The Town of Davie has acquired 84 acres of undeveloped land in western Davie for preservation as a public park devoted to agricultural education and open space. The Davie Farm Park will be unlike any other park in Broward County, and will provide an unparalleled opportunity in this area for experiential learning about agriculture.

The Davie Farm Park aims to provide a working urban mini-farm where crops are grown and animals are raised, where children and adults learn in a hands-on environment about agricultural production from seedling to market and about the area’s agricultural history. The project strives to increase the public’s understanding of the vital role agriculture plays in our every day survival, while making learning fun and preserving open space.

The land, facilities, amenities, and programming of the Davie Farm Park combine to provide this educational experience focused on agriculture and wildlife.

The Town of Davie envisions that educational programming for school children and those on park tours will include hands-on work with crops being grown, sheep shearing, cow milking, the collection of chicken eggs, and interactive animal care with horses, goats and sheep. Educational programming at the site will reinforce the Agriculture in the Classroom curriculum taught in Broward County schools. Additionally, the programs will include instruction about where our food comes from, the agricultural cycle, and the historical role agriculture played as the driving force in the settling and growth of Broward County and Davie. The program also will stress natural resource and environmental education. Such topics may include sustainable and organic farming, native plant species present at the park, and the wildlife that utilize the site and its adjacent wildlife corridors.

The project site lies along a Davie Scenic Corridor, a Broward County designated Greenway, and along the Davie Trail Network – designated by the State as an official Florida Greenway in 1995. These greenways and trails provide a functioning wildlife corridor, while also linking the project site to more than 150 miles of existing trails and many other parks, community facilities, and schools. The Davie Farm Park will serve as a trailside facility to enhance these greenways and trails.

Project Stable and the Broward County Farm Bureau have memorandums of understanding with the Town of Davie to help develop and run programs at the park .

Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available.
