Therapeutic Riding is offered to children and adults who have special needs.  Our Project Stable volunteers and NARHA certified instructors are dedicated to helping individuals to achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life.

According to NARHA, Therapeutic Riding has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, range of motion, posture, and coordination while bilding self-esteem. And it's fun too!

Therapeutic Riding benefits individuals with:
  Autism
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Vascular Accident
Developmental Delay
Down Syndrome
Functional Spinal Curvature
Learning or language disabilities
Multiple Sclerosis
Sensory Integrative Dysfunction
Traumatic Brain Injury

Sessions last for approximately 45 minutes and are offered Monday through Thursday afternoons and on Saturdays. Donation for Project Stable Members is $10.00 per session. You may become a member by calling Sandy McCartney at 954-680-8069 or fill out our Contact Us Form. Membership fee is $35.00 per year.  Scholarships are available!  Call for details!

In addition to Therapeutic Riding, Project Stable offers Hippotherapy in conjunction with therapists from Pediatric Therapy Associates.

According to NARHA,
"Hippotherapy is a term that refers to the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment tool by Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to address impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities in patients with neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. Hippotherapy is used as part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional outcomes".
NARHA states that,
"In hippotherapy, the patient engages in activities on the horse that are enjoyable and challenging. In the controlled hippotherapy environment, the therapist modifies the horse's movement and carefully grades sensory input. Specific riding skills are not taught (as in therapeutic horseback riding); but rather a foundation is established to improve neurological function and sensory processing. This foundation can be generalized to a wide range of daily activities".
